Inside the Secret History of ISIS

FRONTLINE’s “The Secret History of ISIS” investigates the creation of ISIS , including the ascent of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi (pictured), and how the U.S. missed the many warning signs.

Filmmaker Michael Kirk reveals why the emergence the terrorist group ISIS should not have been a shock to the United States government in his latest Frontline documentary, “The Secret History of ISIS.” The film investigates the inside political story of how the American invasion of Iraq and the decisions of two Presidents helped to lay the groundwork for ISIS.

"The Secret History of ISIS" premieres Tuesday, May 17th at 10 p.m. on PBS.
