She ruled the NYPD was wrong on stop-and-frisk. Now Judge Scheindlin worries it's coming back.

Saturday marks ten years since the NYPD’s controversial “stop & frisk” policy was ruled unconstitutional. The practice was a hallmark of policing in New York during the Giuliani Administration, and then hit its apex under former Mayor Mike Bloomberg and his Police Commissioner, Ray Kelly. But in 2013, a federal judge said “stop and frisk” was “racially discriminatory” and singled out Black and Hispanic men.

Retired federal Judge Shira Scheindlin issued the ruling in Floyd v. City of New York, and discusses the cases legacy with WNYC's Tiffany Hanssen.
