Like all red-blooded Americans, we here at Studio 360 love Halloween. And like all holidays, Halloween has its non-negotiable mainstays: candy and pumpkins. We'll let you buy your candy of choice (this is ours), but we've got some pumpkin inspiration to help you with any carving-related activities this weekend.
Everyone carves creepy faces, but next-level pumpkins have a theme. As movie and TV junkies (second only to our candy corn addiction), we rounded up the best pop-culture pumpkins on the internet.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
A holiday movie for the whole year round, The Nightmare Before Christmas is particularly well-suited to All Hallow's Eve. Tim Burton's stop-motion-animated Jack Skellington is a perfect subject for a Jack-o-Lantern.
Star Wars
The eternal favorite of nerds everywhere, Star Wars pumpkins have the added bonus of being especially topical this year. If you've already bought presale tickets to Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, these carvings might be for you. Plus, now that there's a new trailer where you can find adorable new droids to sculpt.
Harry Potter
Wizards and witches are timeless Halloween subjects, so why not go with the greatest wizard of all time? Bonus points for use of medium when you carve "Lumos" on a lighted pumpkin. My favorite is the abstract rendering of the Deathly Hallows sign — unless you're a real Potter fan, it will just look like a cool geometric design.
Jurassic Park
I couldn't find as many dinosaur pumpkins as I'd hoped, but the ones out there are fierce. After Jurassic World opened this summer, you could be the first to carve Chris Pratt with some velociraptors in the best zookeeping pose of all time.
Miscellaneous Pop-Culture Pumpkins
These didn't coalesce into a cohesive theme, but they are rad as hell. The Vertigo one is clearly for AP Pumpkin Carvers, but I bet most of us could manage Batman. Probably.
