Special message Concerning V-E day : "Mayor La Guardia Jumps"

The WNYC sound trucks bring President Truman's V-E Day message to celebrating crowds at Time Square, May 8, 1945.

Fiorello La Guardia delivers a special message concerning V-E day, imploring the citizens of New York to await word from President Truman before celebrating and to stop wasting paper by throwing it out of windows!

Sam Price performs the boogie woogie piano tune "Mayor La Guardia Jumps."

Note: This is a recording of Sam Price performing his new jazz piano suite, Mayor La Guardia Jumps before a capacity audience at New York City Center, May 13, 1945. The other voice heard on the recording is probably performer and band leader Eddie Condon. Condon and Price are referring to the fact that the Mayor's term of office ends December 31, 1945.

The Sam Price performance was found on the same transcription disc with Mayor La Guardia from May 7, 1945 making a pre-VE-Day announcement over WNYC to the residents of New York.
