Mrs. Gannon then goes on to discuss a killing frost that prevented late plantings. However, California tomatoes are being brought in, and snap peas are also arriving at low prices. Despite a shortage of beans from Florida due to the hurricane, other vegetables are readily available: cauliflower, carrots, peppers among them. Cabbage, onion, squash, and beets are all good values.
