Sukkot

Beginning in July 1943, the twice-daily (during WWII) five-minute program were produced to assist families to spend their food dollars wisely. In 1949, the director of New York City's Bureau of Nutrition and WNYC Director Seymour N. Siegel decided to assign full-time nutritionist Iva Bennett to host the program. The long-running food and cooking show also featured information about the nutritional value of different foods and preparation ideas. At the end of each program, Bennett offers a free pamphlet about the topic of each recording, ordered through the mail.
