Taxing the Wealthy to Fix the Subways

Mayor Bill de Blasio announces his plan to fund MTA improvements.

Michael Gianaris, New York State Senator from Queens (D, 12), and Jeffrey Dinowitz, Bronx Assemblyman (D, 81) discuss Mayor de Blasio's plan to tax the wealthy in the city in order to fix the NYC subways. Everyone understands that the MTA needs funding to improve the delays and service interruptions, explains Sen. Gianaris. But the question is where should the funding come from? And this is a way to find funding and start solving the problem now, explains Assemblyman Dinowitz. And de Blasio's plan would bring in about $800 million.
