
The Small Chinatown Bank Targeted After The Financial Crisis; Bryan Cranston, Robin Swicord On 'Wakefield'; How Daydreaming Can Help You Focus

Filmmaker Steve James joins us to discuss his new documentary “Abacus: Small Enough to Jail,” which chronicles the prosecution of a family-owned bank in New York’s Chinatown. He's also be joined by Vera and Jill Sung, two of the film’s subjects. The documentary tells the story of Abacus Federal Savings of Chinatown, which is owned by the Sungs. The bank became the only one in the U.S. to face criminal charges following the 2008 financial crisis. Actor Bryan Cranston, and director and writer Robin Swicord join us to discuss their new film “Wakefield." An adaptation of an E.L. Doctorow short story, the movie follows a successful lawyer bored with life. He eventually abandons his family by hiding in the attic of his garage, where he secretly watches his wife, children and neighbors. Harvard psychiatrist and brain imaging researcher Dr. Srini Pillay will join us for this week’s Please Explain on focus, creativity and productivity. His latest book is Tinker Dabble Doodle Try: Unlock the Power of the Unfocused Mind. In the book, he discusses his research on the helpful benefits of daydreaming, taking breaks, and even leaving work incomplete.
