Three Men Indicted in Killing of Cuomo Aide

Three men were formally charged with murder Wednesday in the killing of Carey Gabay, a former aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, during the annual J'ouvert celebration in 2015.

Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson announced the indictments. The men allegedly engaged in a shootout during which one of the bullets struck Gabay outside Ebbets Field Houses in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

The men charged are Micah Alleyne, 24, from Jamaica, Queens, Tyshawn Crawford, 21, from East New York, Brooklyn, and Keith Luncheon, 24, from Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Each faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.

The District Attorney's office says the 16-count indictment includes charges of second degree murder, second degree criminal possession of a weapon, and first degree reckless endangerment.

Gabay worked for the Empire State Development Corporation and was a former aide to Gov. Cuomo. He was struck in the head by a bullet and died 9 days later at Kings County Hospital Center.

A fourth person had been previously indicted for possession of a gun at the scene.
