Thousands of soccer fans lined the streets of Lower Manhattan to celebrate the Women's World Cup team. It's the first ticker-tape parade ever held in honor of a women's sports team in New York City. Many parade goers waved signs that re-christened the route the "Canyon of Heroines." 

The U.S. squad defeated Japan 5-2 on Sunday in Canada to win its first World Cup since 1999.

Michaela Meyers, 9, from Bloomfield, NJ at the ticker tape parade for the Women's World Cup winners. Meyers says the best part of the parade is the shouting.
