A federal judge in Manhattan has delayed the possibility that President Trump will turn over his tax returns to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr until at least Thursday afternoon, but he also says he will give the U.S. Department of Justice a chance to weigh in.
The ruling comes in the case Trump v. Vance. The president’s lawyers are arguing he is immune from any criminal prosecution as long as he’s president.
Trump's lawyers have vowed to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"They’ll be the ultimate arbiter of whether the president can be prosecuted by anyone. And its unclear if the D.A.’s investigation goes cold in the meantime," said WNYC's Andrea Bernstein.
