The median turnaround time for tests has been two days for about two weeks — but that means half of the tests take longer than that, up to two weeks or more.
Now the city's Health and Hospitals Corporation, which tracks testing, says those long waits are almost nonexistent, and almost everyone gets results within five days or fewer. Efforts to get more people to go get tested, however, have stalled. The goal for September 1st was 50,000 people a day in the city — but fewer than 35,000 people are currently getting tested a day.
The city wants people to get retested at regular intervals, too — but is is letting employers setting workplace rules take the lead as to how often, rather than providing any official guidance.
