Two Men Walk into a Shakespearean Comedy

Zachary Fine, Paul L. Coffey, Noah-Brody, and Andy Grotelueschen in "The Two Gentlemen of Verona"

"The Two Gentlemen of Verona" may well have been Shakespeare’s first play. A seemingly simple tale of shifting devotions among mismatched lovers, it helped launch the genre of rom-com. Yet its delightful madcap surface conceals undercurrents, as its putative hero proves a cad and a faithless friend. Theatre for a New Audience’s Founding Artistic Director Jeffrey Horowitz discusses the new production, along with two of its stars, Noah Brody (who plays Proteus and is also a co-artistic director) and Zachary Fine (who plays Valentine). At Polonsky Shakespeare Center through June 20.
