As Vaccine Supply Dwindles And Cancellations Mount, All Eyes Are On Biden

The Biden administration has pledged to distribute 100 million vaccine doses in 100 days. That sounds like a lot — and it is a lot — but it doesn't represent much of an acceleration over the pace of distribution to date, which has seen 31 million doses reach vaccination hubs in the last 36 days since the national campaign began. More importantly, it's not clear where the new doses will come from, since the stockpiles are being drawn down quickly already. President Biden says he'll activate the Defense Production Act, but observers caution that manufacturing vast quantities of vaccine is very different that ramping up production of personal protective equipment and ventilators.
