The holiday weekend might've been free of foreign terrorism, which American intelligence officials took extra care to guard against, but the nation was rocked by yet another instance of domestic terrorism.

On Friday, a man named Robert Dear Jr. opened fire at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Three people were killed, including Garrett Swasey, a University of Colorado police officer. Nine others were injured.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper called the attack a "form of terrorism" on Sunday, saying that something needs to be done to prevent instances of politically or racially motivated gun violence in the United States.

Reverend Dr. Nori Rost is a minister at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church in Colorado Springs, and Dr. Jennifer Conti is a practicing ob-gyn at Stanford. They both agree with Governor Hickenlooper and insist that what happened on Friday was an example of domestic terrorism.

  • How the Colorado Springs community is responding to this attack.
  • The impact of gun violence in a state that has witnessed multiple mass shootings.
