The trial of a former president taking place in New York City. And a courtroom drama happening a block away is also getting a lot of attention. That would be the trial of New Jersey Senator Bob Menenez, who is charged with bribery and corruption along with his wife and two businessmen.

WNYC's Nancy Solomon spent much of the week in the courtroom. Speaking with Weekend Edition host David Furst, she says it's a sprawling case with 18 charges, a colorful cast of characters, and several conspiracies that federal prosecutors allege.
