Weekend Staff Picks: Cartoons, Birds & Herbs

Here are some of the events our colleagues are checking out around town.

MELINDA WOEHRLE, associate director for news operations: Always a fan of scientific art, Melinda wants to head to the New York Historical Society for the exhibit Audubon's Aviary: Parts Unknown (Part II of the Complete Flock). John James Audubon's watercolors are not only scientific as he classified new species of birds, it demonstrates habitats, conservation and art.

DAN TUCKER, associate producer for business news: Since it's spring and it looks like it's turning into a beautiful weekend, Dan is going to try his hand at growing herbs. He's planning a visit to the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket to see what he can find that will grow in a Brooklyn window box.

DEBBIE DAUGHTRY, audio board engineer: Debbie is heading to the 69th Regiment Armory on Lexington Avenue in Manhattan for the Society of Illustrators' MoCCA Fest , a festival by the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art. Debbie is especially into Drew Friedman's originals Old Jewish Comedians from his recent trilogy of books.
