Here are some of the events our colleagues are checking out around town this weekend.
KIM NOWACKI, online producer, WQXR: Make Music New York coincides with the summer solstice on Saturday. Kim says if you are outside you probably won't be able to miss it because between 10 am to 10 pm some 1,000 free concerts will be performed in public spaces throughout the five boroughs.
KAREN FRILLMANN, enterprise editor: Karen will attend Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival , an environmental festival that includes crafts, boat rides and music by the likes of Nora Jones, Rufus Wainwright, Richard Thompson and Lucinda Williams.
ANNMARIE FERTOLI, JOSEPH CAPRIGLIONE, RICHARD YEH, TRACIE HUNTE, news producers: Our news producers are planning a group outing to check out the flashy and scantily clad marchers in mythic costumes at the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. This year King Neptune and Queen Mermaid are the mayor's kids, Dante and Chiara de Blasio.
