'We're There for Engagement': Anti-Violence Groups Address Rise In Shootings

Gun violence in New York City has surged over the last several weeks. Shootings do tend to go up in the summer months. But the rise now is striking. Over a four week period starting mid-June, shootings rose more than 200 percent, compared to the same period last year, according to police data.

The NYPD has increased patrols in pockets where shootings have been a problem. And there's community-driven work going on as well, to both prevent shootings and help victims when they do happen.
