Republicans and Democrats: America's Two Tyrants?

When asked about voting in the United States, Jerry Garcia once said, "Constantly choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evils." While some may feel there are plenty of options for the 2016 election—16 Republicans and four Democrats are in the running—Americans still only have two parties to choose from.

Today, only about eight percent of Americans feel confident in our partisan Congress, and 47 percent of Americans (nearly half of all voters) identify as independents. Even with 20 people running for president, it seems that it's all a setup—a system relegated to perpetuate two-party rule; a "Game of Thrones" between Democrats and Republicans every four years.

Adam Roderick, a journalist, legislative analyst, policy adviser and author, challenges the two party system in his new book, "Two Tyrants: the Myth of a Two-Party Government and the Liberation of the American Voter."
