New York officials say that about a thousand people might have to "self-quarantine" after being exposed to a Westchester attorney who is hospitalized with COVID-19. That might sound intimidating, but officials say it's necessary to help keep the coronavirus from spreading, but there are some direct things that people who find themselves in that situation can do.
- Family and housemates do not have to leave, but patients should stay in their bedroom as much as possible, and wear a mask if they need to leave.
- Patients should clean the bathroom every time they use it.
- If receiving visitors at the door — like a deliveryperson — patients should wear a mask and keep their distance.
- Stock up on hand sanitizer and other disinfectants.
