Rikers Island has become a symbol of dysfunction in the criminal justice system. So what would a humane jail look like?

Here to reflect on what works and what doesn't when designing a jail complex:

• Dr. Baz Dreisinger: professor, journalist, justice worker, film and radio producer, prison-rights activist, and author of Incarceration Nations: A Journey to Justice in Prisons Around the World (Other Press, 2016)
• Glenn E. Martin: American criminal justice reform advocate, served six years in a New York state prison, and founder and president of JustLeadershipUSA
• Jeff Goodale: Global Justice director and board member at the design firm HOK with more than 30 years of experience with programming, planning, designing and constructing large, complex justice projects
