It was a busy week in presidential politics — with all five of the candidates stumping in, and around, New York City.
For Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump it was a homecoming of sorts. But Republicans John Kasich and especially Ted Cruz found themselves in less familiar and less friendly territory: the Bronx — one of the most Democratic-leaning districts in the country.
An odd choice? Maybe not.
Harry Enten, senior political writer for the data news outfit FiveThirtyEight, said it's smart campaigning. He said New York State allocates its delegates differently from every other state, so Cruz and Kasich are trying to snag some in a state that favors Trump.
"The whole game is to keep Trump from winning three delegates from each district," he said.
Enten spoke to WNYC's All Things Considered host Jami Floyd.
