The WNYC Public Song Project is back for a second year in a row!
Listeners with a knack for creativity can send in a song based on a work of music, literature, or film currently in the public domain. The team at "All of It" this year wants listeners to focus on the 1920s — a nod to WNYC's 2024 centennial celebration.
For the first time, submissions will be featured alongside contributions from friends of the station like Rhiannon Giddens, Bela Fleck, and more musicians still to be announced. A selection of the songs that debuted so far is available on the WNYC website.
Songs from those who submit will be featured alongside those from friends of the show on the website. Project winners will get a chance to talk about their submissions on WNYC.
Producer Simon Close joined Morning Edition host Michael Hill to talk listeners through what they can expect this year from the Public Song Project.
