On January 20th, the Inauguration in Washington signaled great progress for women - especially Black women and Latinas who have traditionally lagged behind men and white women in every marker of success, including wealth and education.

But figures released one week earlier by the U. S. Department of Labor told a very different story -- about the thousands of Black and brown women whose lives have been upended by the pandemic.
