Eli Hager, a staff reporter at The Marshall Project, joins us to discuss his new investigation, “Your Kid Goes to Jail, You Get the Bill.” Co-published by The Washington Post, the piece exposes how parents are required in about half the states in the nation to pay for the costs of their child's incarceration. These costs often cripple families already struggling with the trauma of seeing their child in detention.
