Working Families Party weighs in on why it's against open primaries

A long-running argument over voting in New York City is back in the headlines. 

New York City runs on a system of closed primaries, meaning only people registered with a party can vote in that party's primary. Some advocates, however, want to see a change. Election reform nonprofit Unite NY is pushing to get a vote on changing the primary system before the New York City Council. 

Jasmine Gripper is the executive director of the Working Families Party, and opposes open primaries. She joined WNYC's Michael Hill to explain why.
