Tell us how the Clock Your Sleep project is going. Whether you've been participating for a few days or a few weeks — we at WNYC want to know how the Clock Your Sleep project is going for you. Take two minutes and tell us how tracking your #sleepdata has impacted you.
I am more conscious of my hours-also I go in very early and instead of lunch I take a mid-morning nap. Your survey only allowed for afternoon naps-which I never do-so I am actually getting 45 minutes more of sleep than is registered. I also sleep more on weekends.
:
I was surprised that my sleep efficiency is consistently above 95%
It is as all over the place as I suspected. As the week progresses, my sleep gets worse until I force a sleep-in day. When there is steady exercise and when sleep can be steadily 7 or more hours, I feel much better (that was week 1- sadly sleep deteriorated to unsteady and inconsistent hours after that.)
:
Yes- trying to get out of bed quicker in the morning and not press snooze.
I have tried to stay up later so I sleep all the way through the night. Not sure that is helping the overall tiredness!
I've noticed I don't wake up as much in the middle of the night, but I'm not sure if that's related to keeping track of my sleep.
:
Generally more regular than I thought. And once when I had coffee late in the day, I woke up more at night I thought coffee didn't keep me awake, but I've also started cutting down, so...
:
I'm going to try coffee in the evening again and see what happens. If I don't sleep well again, I'll know to avoid late day coffee.
I learned they sucked! The first week of tracking them my average was 3 hours. I knew I was sleeping little but not THAT little.
:
Absolutely. My goal is to get at least 6 hours of sleep and I am feeling a lot better now, and being more productive. I am VERY glad the app is out and that I am using it!
I'm getting less than the average amount of sleep. I was hoping I would solidly average.
But, I would like to know more about the 2890 other people who are participating with me. Has that information been made visible yet? How many of the 35 - 45 year olds are teachers, financial advisors, students, stay-at-home parents, etc. Also, how do particular jobs/careers effect sleep patterns? I have so many more questions.
:
No, not yet, but am thinking about it. I would love to get 8 hours of sleep but
I am going to bed a bit earlier (by 10 or 10:15) as many nights as possible because I see that even though I may be in bed for 7 or 8 hours, I'm often getting 4.5-5.5 hours of sleep. I have observed that I have very interrupted sleep later in the night/early the next morning so going to bed earlier has allowed me to ensure I get extra sleep in the early part of the night (when I naturally sleep better).

I've gotten better at enforcing an earlier bedtime for myself.
I realized that my sleep patterns are much like those of my mother's...I wake up early, go into my day and never take naps, and stay up until well passed 1am, rarely waking during the night.
:
I've tried to go to bed earlier, however, I find myself lying awake for minutes.
that i go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier than the average person my age, but i already figured that out.
:
i'm trying to have less screen time in or just before bed. i have to say that that is complicated by the fact that i want to accurately document on my sleep app which necessitates being on the phone just before bed and right when i wake up :)
