My apologies for submitting this second design: my first was a graphic artwork, this is a truer visual symbol,& sign. MAKE PEACE, to inspire the effort, work, and "doing" needed to MAKE PEACE. More can be seen on my website of this artwork, sculptures and more:

MAKE PEACE SYMBOL: This is a new proactive "doer" peace sign. Peace is so often seen as something possibly taking place, not as a proactive effort and act for everyone of us to "do" daily". You can see more of this art work, sculptures etc on my website: makepeaceart.com

"Toot" was drawn by a very young unknown artist. I found "Toot" looking for children's drawings of Mother. I was looking for the 'pig nose' kids see from looking up at adults noses that my sister drew as a child. After learning about neuroplasticity I have a new appreciation for John and Yoko's "Imagine Peace".
I am a Brooklyn artist that has become optimistic about arts role after learning some brain science.
Thank you Milton and Brian.

In today’s world one finds himself facing hard times. Gas is out of control, the economy is at an all-time low, the job market is not there. What is one to do but begin to lose faith in life, people, and your inner being? You start to find yourself filled with ideas of hatred, rage and disgust. You ask yourself what I can do to change this life I was born into. When someone feels this way you have to find peace. That is what this symbol is about. The orange sphere is a representation of your altered soul full of all the disappointments surrounding you. It is being lifted up to sky to become clear. We need to let our souls fly free. We need them to be cleansed of all this hate so we can have peace of mind, body and spirit.

My mom painted chalkboard paint all over the walls under my bed, so I drew this huge peace sign. It has rays like the sun. Its rays touch everything all over the universe. They bring an end to war for everyone everywhere.

I designed this hand a couple of years ago when I was thirteen years old. My mom thought that it represented world peace even then, so when this opportunity came to send it to the BL Show, she insisted I submit it. I hope you all like it as much as she did! With the help and cooperation of each and every one of us, world peace does not have to be merely a dream.

The original designer is said to have later mused that he would invert the symbol, as his original design came from a feeling of despair - head bowed, arms pleading - merged with semaphore signals N-D. The original symbol is iconic and will not fade, though many invert it intuitively and would easily recognize the inversion as the peace symbol. Inverted it may still represent pleading, but also the possibility of rejoicing and all-emcompassment. The semaphore would now read U-D Universal Disarmament. Very little you can/should do to something which universally says so much to so many.

Since the "world" feels like nuclear energy is the end of human kind, my picture represents peace without science for the people of the 21st century :)

Hello Brian,
Here is my redesign of the peace sign. Use the gun as a symbol of peace by utilizing it's shape. It is a way to see something more in something that is know to cause such pain.
Thanks for your consideration,
Daniel

I was one of the original 'Flower Children'. I bought my first peace symbol jewelry in Haight Ashbury in 1968.
My peace symbol demonstrates how we are all bound at the base even though our paths diverge. We possess an infinite capacity for renewal. My re-imagined peace symbol has no border.
It touched my heart that anyone, anywhere with three blades of grass could make this symbol...and where there is a drought of understanding, no one could.

I am 10 years old. I am sad to see that a war has been going on for my whole life. I do hope it ends soon. If everyone works together for good,I know it can happen. That is my wish for our world.

I believe the whole idea of a piece sign is a detachment from the reality of war, a euphemism that is just used to sell clothes and trinkets, making the idea meaningless. The perfect poster would show mutilated Iraqi children, mamed from bombings. And just have the word war. All military operations could just take out leaders with swat teams, war is completely unnessesary.

This image suggests an arch made up of 2 unified entities leaning against one another, strength in numbers. Peace.

Inspired by the famous saying, "There is no way to peace, peace is the way" I wanted to symbolize everyone's part in putting an end to war.
Georgia's Peace
My name is Georgia and I'm 8 years old. I hope everyone believes in peace. I always draw peace signs. I thought of this new design because I like stars and hearts and I think it looks good with more than one rectangle.
Karmic Kluster
As human beings, we intuitively know that there is a powerful source from which all things are created. The "new" Peace sign is not really new at all but a powerful symbol that can change the world for the good of all.
Three circles interlaced depicting sacred geometry; the power of the universe. It symbolizes a beginning a middle and end. Thought, word and deed and all of creation that is perfect, whole and complete.
Peace lies within our Mind, Body and Soul and no longer reflects the war and nuclear disarmament of the late 50's and 60's but rather a Peace that bridges the heart, mind and spirit of every living species.
A call this Peace symbol a Karmic Kluster
A World Peace Treat; Whole Perfect and Complete.
The photo attached is a necklace in three dimensions.
Hope you like it.

I was walking down the street and this caught my eye, so I snapped a picture for a project I'm doing in a class at university. Here, it's upside down - a new way to think about how peace can end war?
