This is a photo I took with my iPhone 5S of a visit my husband & I (that is him in the photo) recently took to the exhibit @Large: Ai Wei Wei at Alcatraz in San Francisco. This particular piece is one of five located throughout the prison grounds & it's called Trace. It is made up of 1.2 million legos and it features portraits of 176 "prisoners of conscience" from around the world. What I found particularly beautiful & heartbreaking was something the docent told me-due to his own status as a political prisoner, the artist has never been able to see this piece complete, which I find incredibly moving.
