WNYC is a media sponsor of The Brooklyn Do Gooder Awards, recognizing those who show an outstanding sense of giving back locally - with their time, talent, or charity.
In keeping with the motto to "Do Good Right Here," the first annual Brooklyn Do Gooder Awards campaign celebrates the altruism, philanthropy and commitment of five Brooklyn Do Gooders who are working toward a stronger Brooklyn. From now through September 30, 2010, the Brooklyn Community Foundation invites the larger Brooklyn community to submit nominations for those who they believe embody the highest value of community service and philanthropy. After a public voting period from October 1- 15, 2010, judges will select five winners from among 20 finalists. The Foundation will then publicly honor the winners at the Foundation's anniversary celebration on November 3, 2010 at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, hosted by Leonard Lopate.
