Throughout his career, composer and clarinetist Don Byron has blended jazz with styles ranging from klezmer to rap to German lieder. His latest project looks to gospel – specifically icons Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Thomas A. Dorsey (known as the “father of black gospel music”) - for inspiration. Don Byron and his New Gospel Quintet join us to play a bit of their debut album, “Love, Peace, and Soul,” live in our studio.
