Eric A. Johnston was president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (1941-1946) and the head of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) (1946-1963), where he expanded the market for U.S. films worldwide. He met with Josef Stalin in Russia in 1944 and with Premier Khrushchev in 1958. He testified in front of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and played a role in denouncing the "Hollywood Ten".
