Ivan Zimmerman has served as New York Public Radio’s first General Counsel since 1999. He advises the Board of Trustees and staff on all legal issues regarding the organization. He works with all departments to ensure New York Public Radio’s interests are protected in a manner consistent with the law and with the mission of the organization.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University in East Asian Studies, and received a JD degree in 1984 from Columbia Law School. He has worked as an attorney in New York, Beijing and Tokyo. He was General Counsel for Planned Parenthood of New York City from 1992 to 1998. He resides in Manhattan with his wife and son.
