John Rumm

Buffalo Bill Historical Center

As Curator of Western American History at the Buffalo Bill Museum, Dr. John C. Rumm is overseeing a reinstallation of the museum's permanent exhibition, scheduled to be completed in May 2012. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Rumm was the first Editor-in Chief of the William F. Cody Papers Project.

Dr. Rumm came to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center from Philadelphia, where he held senior-level positions with several museums, most recently as Executive Director of the Civil War & Underground Railroad Museum. He spent 11 years with the Smithsonian Institution, and was a heritage and communications consultant for corporate, trade association, and non-profit clients.  Dr. Rumm did his graduate work at the University of Delaware, where he received both a Master's and a doctorate in American History and a certificate from its Museum Studies Program.
