The Bronx Zoo has a new female Baringo giraffe calf. When she was born this month, the calf was roughly 6 feet tall and over 100 pounds, according to the Bronx Zoo.
The baby giraffe, which does not yet have a name, could grow up to 16 feet tall and could weigh up to 2,600 pounds.
She will be making her debut in the Bronx Zoo's African Plains in a week.
The Baringo, or Rothchild's, giraffe is native to western Kenya and eastern Uganda. The giraffe population overall, according to the Zoo, is decreasing.
