A private security guard has been arrested for taking pay-offs on behalf of contractors looking to meet with officials at the Department of Buildings.

The City's Department of Investigation has 56-year-old Carroll Henry, a guard employed by Allied Barton International. Henry allegedly kept a list and charged builders $60 to help them cut the time they had to wait. Under a new city law, contractors who handle smaller residential projects must sign up with the Department of Buildings. Thousands of builders have had to make appointments. Henry made $25,000 a year at his private guard job. He has been charged with a Class E felony and could face five years in jail.
