Lady Gaga Ousts Spears as Twitter Queen

Features | Aug 23, 2010

Manhattan-raised Lady Gaga has broken many barriers. And over the weekend, she shattered another one. Gaga became the Queen of Twitter when she reached over 5.7 million Twitter followers. She dethroned a pop star she used to write songs for: Britney Spears.

Spears, Ashton Kutcher, Ellen DeGeneres and an account run by President Barack Obama's political organization, Organizing for America, all have more than 5 million followers.

In a costume invoking Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, from The Wizard of Oz, Gaga thanked her loyal followers in this YouTube video on her Web site.
