Tom Bosley, Father on Happy Days, Dies

Tom Bosley, who played the father of Ron Howard's character Richie Cunningham on the long-running show "Happy Days" has died. Bosley was 83 and died of heart failure on Tuesday at his home in Palm Springs.

Bosley won a Tony in 1959 for his performance of Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia in the musical "Fiorello," but he's best known as the affable dad on "Happy Days." TV Guide listed Bosley as number nine on their "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time."

After his time on "Happy Days" Bosley played a recurring character on "Murder, She Wrote."

Bosley is survived by his wife, one daughter, two stepdaughters and seven grandchildren.

Grey Mumford, a CBS publicist who issued a statement on behalf of the family, said Bosley is survived by his wife, Patricia Bosley, his brother Richard Bosley, his daughter Amy Baer, stepdaughters Kimberly diBonaventura and Jamie Van Meter and seven grandchildren.
