Alfa Mist – "4th Feb (Stay Awake)" (Weekly Music Roundup)
The London producer, rapper, and pianist known as Alfa Mist – real name Alfa Sekitoleko – has two main sources of inspiration: hip hop and jazz improvisation. With a new album coming in April, Alfa Mist has released two singles - one is an extended jazzy session improvised in the studio. The other is this song, called “4th Feb (Stay Awake).” It offers a soulful groove over which Alfa Mist talks about overcoming adversity in a voice so thoughtful and intimate that some may not recognize it as rap.
