More than 70 years after it was written, a screenplay by Arthur Miller is making its U.S. debut, but as a play.

"The Hook" is based on true events that took place on the Red Hook docks in the 1930's and 40's. It is inspired by the real-life story of Pete Panto, a longshoreman from South Brooklyn who mysteriously went missing after leading a revolt against corrupt union leadership.

Brave New World Repertory Theater is bringing the show to life with several readings ahead of a planned production in 2020. The company is returning to that same waterfront that Miller took inspiration from, staging the show in The Waterfront Museum, a working, 105-year-old barge, complete with historic maritime relics, anchored off the Red Hook coast.

Readings of "The Hook" will be held Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23.
