Donnacha Dennehy x Alarm Will Sound: Land of Winter at the Irish Arts Center

Donnacha Dennehy has been a central player on the contemporary music scene in Ireland since the turn of the century, even though he’s now based at Princeton University. His new piece “Land of Winter” is about Ireland – specifically, it’s inspired by the Latin name for Ireland, which was Hibernia, or land of winter. Dennehy has a long history with electronic music, so even though this piece is completely acoustic, it’s full of unusual textures and sonic combinations, all played by the 16-piece chamber orchestra called Alarm Will Sound. Alarm Will Sound plays Donnacha Dennehy’s new piece "Land Of Winter" on Dec. 11-12 at the Irish Arts Center.
