After the Memo, Where Does the FBI Stand?

On Friday, House Republicans released a previously confidential four-page memo detailing aspects of the FBI’s ongoing Russia investigation, and claiming a partisan agenda against President Trump.

Meanwhile, the president refocused his ire after the memo release, disparaging the FBI in a series of tweets this weekend, claiming that the FBI has become “a tool of anti-Trump political actors.”   

The denouncement marks an exceptional benchmark in a storied history between the FBI and commanders in chief.

Douglas Charles, an associate professor of history at Pennsylvania State University, joins The Takeaway to provide some historical perspective.
