For years, Paul D Miller has performed under the name DJ Spooky. In addition to the usual DJ stuff – you know, remixing music, curating evening-long dance parties, going to Antarctica and composing electroacoustic chamber music about it – DJ Spooky has also done a multimedia remix of sorts of the notorious DW Griffith film The Birth of a Nation. Now called Rebirth of a Nation, it suggests that the racism and political corruption of a hundred years ago is not necessarily a thing of the past.

DJ Spooky’s film and music project, Rebirth of a Nation comes to the Skirball Center tomorrow night, Sat. Nov. 4.
