The Irish singer James Vincent McMorrow has always had a soulful voice, and a gift for downtempo, moody R&B. In the past, he’s accompanied himself on acoustic guitar or piano. But his latest album, True Care, is full of atmospheric electronics, dark-hued beats and ghostly voices. The title of this song seems to indicate that McMorrow’s aiming for a kind of futuristic soul music – it’s called "December 2914." James Vincent McMorrow will be at the big and still newish venue known as Brooklyn Steel tonight.
