Helga: Chris Jackson & Jacqueline Woodson

Specials | Nov 21, 2018

Host Helga Davis is joined by two New York City natives, Chris Jackson and Jacqueline Woodson. Both share the stories of their lives coming of age in the outer boroughs, how to “make family”, and what it means to be raising black children at this particular moment in history.

Chris Jackson serves as the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher at newly re-launched, One World, an imprint of Random House. He champions the work of authors of color, among them Ta-Nehisi Coates, Jill Loevy and Bryan Stevenson.

Jacqueline Woodson is a children’s book author who won the 2014 National Book Award for Brown Girl Dreaming. In January 2018 she began her two-year tenure as the National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. Her latest book Another Brooklyn was a New York Times best-seller.
