On Michael Feinstein's Holiday Standard Time, you’ll enjoy a medley of swinging Christmas songs of the post-WWII era, including “Little Jack Frost, Get Lost,” a delightful Bing Crosby and Peggy Lee duet, as well as jazz legend Louis Armstrong’s seldom-heard early '50s Christmas tune, “’Zat You, Santa Claus?” The show also delves briefly into an even more unusual category—the urban blues Christmas song—with recordings by blues great Bessie Smith, the African-American vaudeville team Butterbeans and Susie, and Patti Page, best known as a country singer.
Michael has also searched through his catalog for some of the worst, least-memorable holiday songs. You’ll hear a briefly painful medley tunes by a diverse roster of artists, including Connie Francis, Mel Blanc (best known as the voice of Bugs Bunny), Liberace, and the long-forgotten early '20s crooner Arthur Tracy.
