Vandana Shiva, Voice of the Anti-GMO Debate

Should genetic modification organisms (GMOs) be used to makes crops live longer, resist pests and drought, and yield more harvest? Or are GMOs dangerous for the planet and humans across the globe?

No matter which side you're on, there's a very passionate, and sometimes frustrating debate over the future of agriculture.

Vandana Shiva is the voice leading the crusade against GMOs. She is an author, environmental activist and the founder of Navdanya, a movement of 500,000 seed keepers and organic farmers in India.

She sat down with The Takeaway to respond to the assertions of Monsanto's Dr. Robert Fraley, and to express her greater fears of the dangers of an industrial agricultural system that GMOs are representative of.

A Monsanto executive offers a counter argument here. See a transcript of this interview here.
