While Some Arts Institutions Flounder, One Found A Way To Pivot

Times are tough for everyone—and that includes the city’s arts and culture institutions. They were forced to close in March, and saw their revenue immediately drop—with no admissions, no ticket sales, and a decrease in philanthropy, thanks to the uncertainty of the stock market. Many institutions laid off or furloughed dozens of people.

But one institution pivoted to online content early and wound up building a new, global audience: The 92nd Street Y. WNYC Culture Editor Jennifer Vanasco spoke to All Things Considered host Jami Floyd about what the 92nd Street Y has done and what other institutions can learn from it.
