The keyboardist and composer Yann Tiersen is from Brittany, the Celtic region of northwest France. He became well known when a bunch of his tracks were used as the soundtrack of the film Amelie back in 2001, but he is not really a film composer. He writes mostly instrumental works and occasional songs inspired by islands, isolation, nature, and home. The French keyboardist Yann Tiersen plays Tuesday night, May 28, at the Beacon Theatre to celebrate his most recent record, ALL. (no, ALL! - Caryn Havlik)
